Today I got an awaited crit. The crit told me the logo is there but needs refinement. That means the stickers will be here before we know it! You can see the logo in the top corner in the header. Also the site will bet getting some more color. Sneak peaks.

Kilroy has entered BETA, people may now start joining the community and submitting graffiti. Early users maybe offered t-shirts and kilroy stickers if they surpass a certain amount of entries (number to be announced)

Updates

Lots of work on the site, about 40-50 hours of tweaking the database single page, adding a comment system, an avatar system, a verify function so users can edit their own stuff and it can’t be hacked, not that anyone would want too, (work on teh gibson no teh kilroy kthx) but regardless. Modified search, session last page saved, searches saved, graphs are being generated, totals are being exploded and counted into arrays, the RSS feed and feeding beautifully, search is working like a charm, profiles can be viewed, posts are being related, the site is coming together.

Legal Stuff

To protect the content and the site, a privacy policy was written and still needs to be tweaked, re looked at and reviewed. It basically says Kilroy Lives wont sell your information, abuse your information, and I do not condone defacing public or private property. Kilroy does not encourage defacement. The site simply studies it. Just like the government studies and releases crime statistics and reports. It may be that Providence has a high crime rate as well as a high rate of profanity written on bathroom stalls, just a study, not an insult or attack against Providence’s people or establishments. The site studies the human psyche. Kilroy is a social study, not an assailant.

This may mean the cool toilet paper shaped stickers may not happen, since they could possibly promote defacing the public (sorry Caity). T-shirts are a great safe way to promote the site. I will be talking to a lawyer to work out some more fine print. I feel the site is an important study of a dieing way of human life. I will do whatever is needed to protect the site and make it the best possible.

Design Stuff and a sneak peak

I’ve been working on some minor icon development that will always be seen on the single pages. Also icon development for categories and places, for example a mens, womens, and men and women room icon will be made along with a building, bridge highway etc to make a quick visual of where the graffiti is found for the user. On insert of graffiti latrinalia and artistic graffiti will be distinguished before categorizing what is written.

The logo with the RSS feed is being reassessed and may possibly have a toilet paper represent the dot in .com

The quality of some images was suffering immensely! So figured id get it done sooner than later.

Downfalls, images went from being 44kb to 130-50kb a peice, but clarity if greater! especially for those thin pen marks we love to read…

As well as resizing i also wrote code to check its size ratio that understand if the image or vertical or horizontal and adjusts the height accordingly! That means clean pages and not such damned long vertical images that drive me nuts! Will be running a huge resize algorithm for every image already uploaded… that over 200! phew!

doubling the max_execution time, max_input_time and memory_limit
